Spring Term 1 Curriculum Overview
Year B – Pine, Elm & Cherry Classes
Length of term: 6 weeks
This half term, children will enjoy a broad and engaging curriculum with a strong focus on weather, materials, creativity and teamwork.

🌍 Geography – Weather
Children will:

Learn about different types of weather and the four seasons

Measure temperature, rainfall and wind direction

Keep simple weather diaries

Use equipment such as thermometers, rain gauges and weather vanes
🔬 Science – Changing Materials
Children will:

Identify everyday materials such as wood, plastic, metal and glass

Explore material properties (hard, soft, bendy, waterproof)

Carry out simple investigations

Design and test objects, including boats and parachutes
🎨 Art & Design Technology
Children will:

Design and create superhero sculptures

Use materials such as wire, clay, paint and collage

Learn about colour, texture, shape and form

Work together on large collaborative artwork
🎵 Music – Sound Patterns
Children will:

Use voices and instruments to create sound effects

Explore loud, quiet and silent sounds

Perform rhythms linked to stories and fairytales
