Vision and Values 2026-27
Whitley and Eggborough Community Primary School promotes achievement, aspiration and learning for life.
We are an inclusive school with high expectations of all pupils, fostering an ethos of support, challenge and encouragement.
Through our core values of CHAS – Caring, Helping and Sharing – alongside the principles of Ambition, Empathy and Integrity, we encourage every child to grow into a confident, independent learner who can work successfully alongside others in a safe, respectful and supportive environment. We equip our pupils with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes they need for the next stage of their education and beyond. We aim to develop resilient, adaptable learners who are prepared to meet the opportunities and challenges of an ever-changing world. Through nurturing ambition, we encourage children to strive for their very best and believe in their ability to succeed. At the heart of all we do is a commitment to ensuring that every child feels valued, supported and able to achieve their full potential.
The personal, social and emotional development of our pupils is a priority. We believe that everyone has the right to feel happy, safe and respected, and that we all share a responsibility for creating a positive and caring school community. Guided by our values of Caring, Helping and Sharing, pupils learn the importance of kindness, empathy, cooperation and respect for others. We encourage children to understand and appreciate different perspectives, showing compassion and consideration in their interactions. Through developing integrity, pupils learn to be honest, responsible and accountable for their actions.
Our school provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can flourish. Through a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum, pupils enjoy a wide range of rich learning experiences, enhanced by educational visits, extra-curricular opportunities and meaningful links with the local community. These experiences help children develop curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning, while building the confidence to embrace new challenges.
Our dedicated and professional staff work hard to provide high-quality teaching and memorable learning opportunities that inspire and challenge every child. We encourage pupils to be inquisitive, to ask questions, to take risks in their learning and to develop resilience when faced with challenges. By fostering ambition and a spirit of curiosity, we help children achieve high standards, develop confidence in their abilities and take pride in their achievements.
We greatly value the partnerships between school, home and the wider community. We are fortunate to work alongside supportive parents, carers, governors and community members who contribute to the enriching experiences we provide for our pupils. Together, these partnerships help us maintain a school environment where children feel happy, secure and motivated to succeed, while understanding the importance of helping others and making a positive contribution to society.
At Whitley and Eggborough Community Primary School, our values of CHAS – Caring, Helping and Sharing – together with Ambition, Empathy and Integrity, underpin everything we do. We place a strong emphasis on pupils' wellbeing and emotional health, ensuring that every child feels known, valued and supported. We celebrate individuality and diversity, encourage mutual respect and understanding, and promote a strong sense of belonging. Our carefully designed curriculum ensures progression, depth of knowledge and memorable learning experiences, while helping pupils develop the attitudes and skills that will support them throughout their lives. Through these values, we strive to create a community where every child can thrive, achieve and shine, leaving our school as confident, compassionate and responsible young people, ready for the future.
